What a great development! I only worry about the health consequences of eliminating a woman's period. It can't be consequence-free, can it? That just sounds too simple.

Are ya gonna get one of these? It sure sounds like the way to go.

Aimee

Well, it is hormones, so the consequences are simply that the woman becomes emotionally unstable, her face breaks out, she increases her risk of certain cancers, she has to visit the pharmacy and spend third tier copays every three months, but... well... those poor guys at the drug manufacturing companies would go yachtless if we didn't buy their products.
According to the medical and pharmaceutical industries, for women who are finished loaning their bodies to fetuses, getting a prescription is so much better than having a 20 minute outpatient surgical procedure like endometrial ablation to correct the problem permanently. Those doctors and drug reps are so smart and women are just stupid, so I'm convinced that hormones are a much better solution.

Julie

While I agree that using hormones is based on a ploy by the big manufacturers of these drugs ... I also think there are women out there that don't have those terrible side effects and if it works for them ... why not?
Personally ... I would prefer to see ablation as readily accessible as (any) pill(s) ...

Depo-Provera Prescription Information

My name is Janice Still and i would like to show you my personal experience with Depo-Provera.

I am 24 years old. I have been on Depo for 9 years and did not realize that the symptoms I experienced might be related to the shot. I am now facing thousands of dollars in dental work due to bone density loss, and will probably end up with osteoporosis. I am getting off Depo and will never touch it again!

I have experienced some of these side effects-
Low libido, joint pain, bone density loss, dental problems, headaches, fatigue, out of control eating, gained 40 lbs., depression

I hope this information will be useful to others,
Janice Still
